Description

This is a detached house, likely dating from the 18th century, with an associated rock and garden wall. The house is built of unpainted stucco, with a steeply pitched slate roof and a red brick stack at the left end. It has two full storeys, a basement under the left half, and an attic. The front of the house is double-fronted, with two shallow gables above the windows. These gables feature ornate fretwork bargeboards. The first floor has a small 9-pane sash window to the right and a large, canted oriel window with a moulded cornice and hipped slate roof to the left. The oriel window has 4-16-4 panes. The ground floor has a 12-pane sash window to the left, a 16-pane sash window to the right, and a front door positioned slightly left of centre, set within a 20th-century, pedimented surround. Above the door is a traceried overlight. All windows, except the oriel, are set within raised, rusticated surrounds. The front door has four long, Tudor-arched panels. The house has vermiculated rusticated quoins, also visible on the gable end facing the road, which has plain, overhanging verges and a window on each floor to the right.

The rock and garden wall, which runs along the roadside for approximately 20 metres and stands about 2 metres high, is constructed of roughly squared rubble stone, with a cement capping. It contains two low, blocked openings with stone voussoirs; one is pointed and the other is round. There are traces of at least one arrow loop. The openings have splayed reveals on the garden side. Two 19th-century limestone gatepiers are situated by the house.
