Description
The railings and retaining walls along the seafront are made of cast iron and are set on a grey limestone chamfered plinth. The railings feature a neo-classical design with spearhead tops that have tasselled necks and embossed scrolls. The shafts of the railings are shaped in a quatrefoil section. The intermediate stanchions also have a quatrefoil design, with octagonal bases and square knops topped with mushroom finials, some of which have additional finials above. Wrought iron scrolled supports extend from the limestone projecting rounded corbels. There are matching gates at various points along the railings. Additionally, there are six square projections located opposite the Giltar Hotel, Clarence House Hotel, opposite Sutton Street, opposite the Panorama Hotel, Buckingham Hotel, and St Agatha's.
