Description

Chestnuts is a semi-detached house dating from the 19th century, featuring painted stucco and a slate eaves roof supported by brackets, with end-wall brick stacks. The building has three storeys and a basement, with two bays that are offset to the left.

On the left side, there is a rectangular sash window on the second floor, and a segmental-headed sash window with a stuccoed surround on the first floor, positioned above an ornate stuccoed doorcase. This doorcase includes a four-panel door and an overlight, accessed by three steps. The doorcase is adorned with pilasters and a frieze that has paired brackets at each end, topped by a cornice featuring a semicircular head in the center.

The right side of the house features a four-pane sash window above a large stucco canted bay window that extends through the first floor, ground floor, and basement. The windows have segmental arches with moulded surrounds. The eaves brackets are similar to those on the hipped roof. The area railings are decorated with fleur-de-lys finials.

Inside, the lobby includes a glazed screen with colored glass on the side. The staircase features a bulbous newel post and turned balusters.
