Description
Netherwood is a two-storey house with a symmetrical three-window front facing the gardens to the east. The exterior is rendered and painted, featuring slight pilaster strips at the corners. The roof is covered with slate and has lead-rolled hips and a ridge, with tall chimneys located at the north and south ends near the front. The upper windows are sash type with 12 panes, adorned with slightly projecting Tudor label moulds in the render and slate sills. The sashes have horns and may not be original. The lower windows, which were formerly part of a veranda, are French windows that also feature similar label moulds. The outline of the lost veranda can still be seen.
On the north front, there is a range of four windows, including a blind window at the chimney position on the left for both storeys. A corresponding blind window is also present on the south elevation. A later porch has been added to the left of centre on the north side, serving as the main entrance to the house. The upper sash windows on this side have 12 panes, while the lower ones have 16 panes, all with hornless sashes, thin glazing bars, and slightly projecting Tudor label moulds. To the right of the north elevation is a service extension with a lower roof level, featuring a single 11-pane upper sash window that breaks the eaves and has a rounded head within a gable. The two lower windows are sash type with nine panes, and there is a smaller third window on the ground storey in a lean-to extension further to the right.
The original layout of the house remains intact, with a hallway leading to the staircase on the south side.
