Description

The former Bonville's Court Colliery heapstead is a raised platform that was used for coal mining. It is where the headframe and winding engine house were located, allowing coal to be lifted from the shaft and tipped into nearby screens and coal wagons. The heapstead is made of rubble sandstone and rises about 6 meters above the surrounding ground level. The walls feature putlog holes that supported the timber structure of the screens.
