Description
This is a set of five cast iron grave slabs located in the churchyard of Saint Issell's. The slabs feature embossed memorial lettering and are dedicated to Thomas Jenkins of Ridgeway, dated 1874; W.A. Brinn of Leverux, dated 1883; John Beynon of Saundersfoot, dated 1885; Martha Walters of Griffiston, dated 1890; and Mary Anne Craig of Vine Cottage, dated 1892. Each slab is made from a deeply anchored cast iron base, onto which the main slab is bolted using a lead joint. The main slab has a rebate at the foot and all slabs are similar, cast from the same or similar patterns. The front of each slab has a perimeter flange rib, with a shallow trefoiled head and a central design featuring a knot of flowers and grasses. At the top of each slab is a finial shaped like a fircone, surrounded by leaves and with a collar beneath.
