Description
Frainslake Limekiln, located near Brownslade Farm, is a single limekiln from the late 18th century, situated on the north side of the road leading from Brownslade to Frainslake, built against higher ground. The structure measures 7 meters by 5 meters and is constructed of rubble masonry. The sides of the kiln are slightly battered, and there are opposed drawholes on the west and east sides, each featuring timber lintels. The southern front is plain. The pot of the kiln has a diameter of about 3 meters and retains its brick lining up to the top. There is a small quarry to the east of the kiln.
This limekiln is listed for being a well-preserved example and for its group value with Brownslade Farm.
