Description
The Corn Mill, located to the east of the house, is constructed from local limestone rubble masonry and features a decorative cornice. Its roof is slightly higher than that of the adjacent house. Although the millwork is in a rotten and fragmentary state, it has been thoroughly documented for the Royal Commission. The mill was powered by a medium-sized overshot wheel, with drive gearing located in the basement, millstones on the ground floor, and hoppers and a sack-hoist situated above. There are two millstones present, along with marks on the floor that suggest a third stone once existed. In front of the mill building, there is a later double cart-shed characterized by large arches made of red brick and large chisel-dressed quoins.
