Description
The Mounting Platform is a square structure approximately 1.1 meters high, featuring six steps made of rubble masonry. The top is primarily a single large slab. It appears to have been designed for mounting a horse, although its exact date is unknown. It is reported to have been in use until around 1920. The platform is roughly constructed and is oddly situated away from and at an angle to the churchyard wall.
Additionally, there is a set of iron rings embedded in the nearby wall for tethering horses. This platform is an interesting historical feature and is included for its group value with the church.
