Description
The granary at Llanerchaeron, previously listed as situated at Llanaeron Home Farm, is a rubble-built structure that features a cartshed below and a granary above, topped with a hipped slate roof. The granary is elevated on five rows of three large square rubble stone piers, which have stone slab caps and timber lintels between them. The western end and southern side of the building have been enclosed, with an additional room constructed in the southeast corner.
The upper floor has three tall openings on the front and rear, as well as one on the eastern end. The central openings on the north and south sides are boarded doors with timber lintels, while the remaining openings are windows with cambered stone voussoired heads and timber louvres. There are exterior stone steps at the rear, positioned against the back wall of the kennel range, which are detached from the granary and have a short iron grille across the gap.
To the west, there is a later lean-to cartshed that has an open front and a slate roof, situated within an enclosed area between the granary and the northwest corner of the kennel range. The granary features a five-bay roof supported by tie-beam trusses and fish-bone struts, with paired purlins. Trap-doors in the floor allow for loading, which appears to have been facilitated by hoists powered by a water wheel.
