Description
The farm range on the southwest side of Farmcourt at Allyrodyn Home Farm is a collection of outbuildings and a barn, built in 1834. Constructed from rubble stone and topped with slate roofs, the structure features taller end ranges that enclose a long central range.
At the southern end, there is a two-storey building with large external steps leading to the center. This building has a circular-arched recess with cut-stone voussoirs and a keystone below it. To the left on the ground floor, there is a small window, while the upper floor includes a central loft door flanked by windows on each side. All openings have cambered heads and stone voussoirs, with windows featuring split slate sills. The rear side has four windows on two storeys, with additional windows above and a door below. There is also one loft window in the end wall.
The long central range has a uniform roofline and includes three pig sties on the left, followed by a tack-room and cart sheds on the right. The fronts of the pig sties are recessed, allowing the eaves to shelter part of the yard, and they are enclosed by rubble walls. To the right, there is a wall-face stack followed by three doors—two with cambered stone heads and one with a timber lintel—leading to three elliptical arched cart entries with cut-stone voussoirs. The roof is supported by collar trusses.
Perpendicular to this range is the barn, which features high doors at the center on both the front and back, also with cambered stone heads. It has a nine-bay, triple purlin roof supported by double-collar trusses. The front facing the farm court includes an ornamental gabled dovecote, dated 1834, which may have been added later. This structure is two and a half storeys tall, with a bargeboarded gable and projecting stone bands at the sill and impost levels of each stage. The ground floor has an elliptical arched cart-entry, while the first floor features a pair of elliptical arched unglazed windows and another similar window in the attic. The upper floors also have dove-holes in the walls, and there is an iron weathercock on the gable.
