Description

Green Grove is a house with an early 19th-century service wing on the right. The main house features roughcast rendered walls that are noticeably battered. It has steeply pitched slate roofs and timber bargeboards. The house includes rendered projecting gable chimney stacks, with the rear roof slope continuing in line with the left stack. The facade of the house has four bays, while the lower two-bay service wing is also two storeys high. All front windows are 6/3 hornless sashes with slate sills. The second bay from the left has a replaced panelled door, and there is a stone portal with Doric pillars that replaces an earlier timber version. To the left, there is a small single-storey addition featuring a 6/3 sash window on the left and a door on the right. The end of the wing has two ground floor 6/3 sashes.

At the rear of the main house, there is a central projecting gabled stair-wing with outshuts to the left and right; the right outshut has a shallow-pitched roof. The stair wing contains a 4-pane sash window on the first floor and a 6/3 sash below. The right outshut has an upper 6/3 sash and a ground floor with a small 4/2 sash to the left and a door to the right. The upper floor of the recessed left outshut features a 6/3 sash on the left and a small 4/2 sash on the right. Below, there are 20th-century glazed doors. The service wing has a three-bay rear, with the upper floor featuring a central small 4/2 sash and a 6/3 sash on each side, along with a door to the left and a 6/3 sash to the right. A glass-roofed veranda extends from the left end to the stair wing, supported by timber posts.

Inside, there are massive chamfered beams on the ground floor and a wide fireplace in the right room with a stop-chamfered lintel. The stair has been entirely renewed.
