Description
The Black Lion Hotel is a mid-19th century inn constructed of stucco with slate roofs. It features a tall three-storey front range with three windows, an eaves roof, and renewed red brick end stacks. The windows on the first floor are 12-pane sashes with cambered heads and slate sills, while the center first floor window has been replaced with a long pair of casement windows. The ground floor has double doors with a plain overlight, set within a 20th-century glazed timber porch. Each end of the building has a similar one-window range. At the rear, there is a left side-wall stack and a right side with a parallel wing that has a projecting gable facing the street. There is likely an earlier low two-storey rear wing aligned with the street, featuring 20th-century 12-pane sashes; this includes one ground floor window and a three-window range with a center ledged door. The building also has two stone stacks and a lean-to on the end wall.
