Description
3 Rook Terrace consists of two pairs of houses built in red brick with slate roofs and brick stacks, dating from the 19th century. The houses are two-storey with an attic and feature a 2-window range for each house, showcasing decorative brickwork typical of the Cardigan Brickworks.
Houses 3 and 4 have paired doors, canted bay windows, and upper windows with notched surrounds, cambered heads, and carved keystones. They also feature 4-pane sash windows and brick dormer gables over the outer bays. A moulded brick eaves course includes zig-zag and roll-mould details, followed by a slate gutter course. The windows have timber panels above the sashes with pierced decoration, and the dormer gables are adorned with carved roundels. The doors, which are of 2 long arched panels, survive on No 3 and include overlights and a shelf hood supported by rustic brackets, likely made of cast iron.
Houses 1 and 2 are similar in style, but their doors are not paired; instead, they are aligned under the right side window of each house, with the gables centered. These doors feature pilastered doorcases with cornices, with arched panels original to No 1 and glazed panels on No 2.
All four houses are complemented by yellow brick low walls with cast-iron railings and wrought iron gates.
