Description
The former church school is built from squared rubble stone and features a steeply-pitched slate roof with a prominent timber bellcote at the west ridge. It has a rectangular one-room plan with a small projecting addition on the southwest side. The south side of the building has a large near-central side-wall stack with an external chimney-breast that has two steps in its upper part, which has been rendered. There are narrow single light windows on either side of the stack. The left addition includes a door at the angle and a window at the south end, with an original doorway present. The bellcote, located just in from the west end, is supported by moulded squat timber posts with brackets, holding a steep slated four-sided spirelet topped with an iron cross finial and containing the original bell. The west end has been rendered and features a plain rectangular large timber-mullioned window, which may have been altered. The east end showcases a tall pointed three-light window with timber tracery and stone voussoirs. The north side has a central gable above a large brick-framed cambered-headed window, which may be an addition. There is a lean-to on the right and an outbuilding on the left.
Inside, the roof is supported by six-sided rafters with one tie-beam and a king-post under the bellcote. The fireplace on the south wall has been blocked.
