Description

Rhydlewis Stores and Post Office is a building made of dark red painted horizontally-laid corrugated iron, with some timber boarding, and features corrugated iron roofs. The two-storey shop is located on the right side and has gablets on its hipped roof, with a single fixed 8-pane horizontal window in the center of the first floor. The ground floor shop front is set to the left and is covered by a curved corrugated-iron awning, which has corrugated-iron end-pieces with a decoratively-cut lower edge. The shop front includes a ledged outer door on the left and three large plate-glass panes on the right, all above corrugated iron. There is a half-glazed inner door and simple timber pilasters on each side that extend up to the awning. The south end wall is also made of corrugated iron and features two ground floor 6-pane casements and one small 4-pane casement under the eaves. At the rear, there is a rendered lean-to block that has been extended.

The Post Office, which is set back to the right, is a lower, gable-fronted range with a horizontally-boarded gable. It has a corrugated iron awning, similar to that of the Stores, over a small canted bay window that sits on a rendered base. Inside the bay window, there is a pair of casement windows. To the right, there is a door with corrugated-iron cladding on each side and a George VI letter-box inset to the left. The north side of the Post Office is also made of corrugated iron and has two windows. Behind the Post Office, there is a short barn with a hoop-top, which is also clad in corrugated iron.

Inside the Stores, the interior is boarded and features timber shelving, along with an open-tread stair leading up to the loft floor.
