Tarbert Stores, The Pier, Tarbert

Tarbert Stores is a tall, two-storey shop built around 1900, featuring a three-bay, M-gabled design. It is situated on a steeply sloping site, with a rectangular plan. The building has a combination of rendered brick and a concrete base, which is taller and slightly battered at the rear. The eastern, northern, and western elevations are clad in vertical timber boarding, while the southern side is covered in corrugated iron.

The entrance is located on the eastern elevation, with a broad door positioned immediately to the left of center, accompanied by a large window to the right. There is another door in the left bay and an additional window to the right. At the first floor, three horizontal windows are aligned close to the eaves. The northern gables feature two boarded timber loft doors at the first floor.

The windows are timber-framed, with a four-pane glazing pattern on the ground floor and a six-pane pattern on the first floor. The roof is made of corrugated iron and includes timber barge-boards. A decorative cast iron rainwater hopper is located on the southern side.

Inside, the ground floor serves as a low-ceilinged store with traditional timber fittings.
