Description

The Queensferry War Memorial Institute is a long single-storey building constructed with corrugated iron sheeting on a brick plinth, featuring a roof also made of corrugated iron sheeting and three iron ridge vents. The front of the building has advanced gabled bays at both ends, while the rear has similar gabled bays that are not advanced. The gables display decorative small-scantling timber-framing with vertical and raked struts, and there is a continuous sill band.

The wooden top-hung windows are set within moulded frames, with a three-pane opening section above two panes. A shallow lean-to porch canopy stretches between the gabled bays at the front, supported by two narrow square piers on brick bases, with arched braces at the upper angles. Inside the porch, there is a central brick lateral stack flanked by windows; to the left is a boarded door, and there is a second boarded door into the left return of the right-hand gabled bay.

The front of the advanced gabled bays features two windows on the left and three on the right. The west gable end of the building has three windows with a boarded door to the far right, while the east gable end has two windows. At the rear, the central bay has two windows, and the left gabled bay has three windows. There is a lean-to against the right-hand gabled bay with three small windows, one of which is later, and an additional window on its left return. The interior has not been seen.
