Description
The Old School House is a single-storey building oriented north-south, featuring a lower advanced gabled bay to the east. It is constructed from large blocks of random stone and has steeply pitched pan-tile roofs. Architectural details include a plinth with chamfered brick coping, quoins, and flat-arched brick heads over openings, with brick jambs and stone sills. The north gable end faces the road, and the front entrance consists of a planked door located on the north side of the east gabled bay, which is slightly set back. The roof pitch of the main range slopes down to create a porch over the entrance, supported by a timber pier.
The north end of the main range features a large multi-pane three-light wooden window with a transom. The apex of the roof projects with a hipped end, supported by two cusped brackets, which would have originally housed a bell that is now missing. The east gable end has a multi-pane cross window that matches the style of the north window. There are no openings on the west side. The south gable includes a nine-pane wooden window, beneath which is a blue brick lean-to with a pan-tile roof. The west side of the lean-to has a planked door with an overlight, set within a late 20th-century half-glazed porch. Attached to the east end of the rear lean-to is a small stone lean-to positioned at right angles, featuring a planked door on its east side under a segmental brick head.
No access to the interior was available at the time of inspection.
