Description

Pantycelyn Baptist Chapel is a small chapel built with rubble walls painted cream and topped with a slate roof. The openings feature brick dressings and round-headed hornless sash windows. The gable-end front includes a central round-headed doorway with double panelled doors and a radial overlight. On either side of the doorway are small slate plaques, and to the left is a stone tablet on moulded corbels by Daniel Davies, commemorating Peter Jones, a former deacon who died in 1858. Above the doorway is a single window, with a tablet from 1890 positioned above it. The left side wall has two tall windows, and between them is a small stone tablet dated 1832, indicating that this was the main façade of the chapel until 1890. Below the right-hand window is a memorial slab commemorating Margaret Griffiths, who died in 1816. On the right side of the chapel, there is a track at a higher level, and a stone mounting block with slate steps is built against the wall at the angle with the main front. The side wall has two windows that light the gallery, while the rear has a single window. In the lower right corner, there is a stone memorial tablet by D. Jones of Llanfechan commemorating David and Margaret Morgans, who died in 1796 and 1816, respectively.

Inside, a small vestibule leads to the main chapel through plain double doors. The chapel features a three-sided raked gallery with a panelled front, supported by cast iron posts with foliage capitals. The plaster ceiling includes a single moulded roundel. A later pulpit with turned balusters is present, and the pews and set fawr have plain details.
