Description
The boundary wall of the Church of St Ethelwold dates from the 19th century and serves to enclose the churchyard to the west and the vicarage garden to the east. At the northwest corner of the churchyard, the wall curves and continues southward, eventually enclosing the church car park.
Constructed from dressed snecked pink and red sandstone, the wall features saddleback coping that matches the stone used in the church. The wall is complemented by dressed gate piers topped with moulded two-stage pyramidal caps. There are two main gateways that lead into the church and vicarage, each fitted with double iron gates adorned with ornate scrollwork and dog rails. The entrance to the car park is marked by slightly lower walls that splay inwards and terminate in end piers.
