Description

This is a 17th-century timber-framed building, largely refronted in red brick during the late 19th century. It has a black glazed pantile roof with gable ends. The building contains three distinct sections: a Post Office with a projecting late 19th-century shop front, a Carters section with a small shop front and panelled door, and The Maltings, which incorporates a projecting one-story shop at one end. The building has two storeys and five windows, which are sash windows, some with glazing bars. The north gable end of The Maltings has a plastered façade with a three-light window of probable 17th/18th-century origin, featuring leaded panes. The interior retains stop-chamfered beams and exposed timber framing within The Maltings.
