Description

Chestnut View is an early 18th century house. The brick front of the house is plastered, with chamfered quoins. It has a steeply pitched pantile roof with gable ends; the south gable end is tumbled and has brick coping with a chimney at its apex. The house is two storeys high with two windows facing the street. The first floor has two small two-light casement windows. The ground floor has sash windows, one with glazing bars, and a central panelled door set within a moulded doorcase featuring a small cornice and a plain frieze with shaped ends. A lower addition extends from the north end of the building, featuring a lower-pitched roof, a stuccoed front, two storeys, and one window with sash windows and glazing bars. This addition includes a pilastered doorcase with a cornice and a panelled and glazed door. A rear wing, dated to the 18th or early 19th century, is constructed of brick on the ground floor, with clay lumps above, and is roofed with pantiles. This wing has casement windows.
