Description

This early to mid 19th century limekiln is constructed from rubble stone and is notable for its exceptional size. It has a skewed rectangular shape and is built into a bank on the south side, featuring a steeply battered north wall. The west and east sides each have tall triangular-headed openings, which are framed by horizontally-laid edge stones, with the sides slanting inward to small fire-holes. Additionally, both sides are supported by battered buttresses located to the north of the openings. The top crucible is circular and lined with stone.
