Description
The property comprises a courtyard with gatepiers constructed primarily in the 20th century, though incorporating elements of earlier design. The exterior is faced with finely cut Cilgerran stone in long rectangular blocks, covered by slate roofs. The castellated style is prominently featured, with a tall entrance tower offset to the east front. This tower features a block rusticated arch with impost bands and a keystone, leading to panelled timber gates. Above the arch is a moulded cornice, followed by two 20th-century timber mullion and transom windows to the first floor, each with a rendered lintel and cornice, surmounted by a large stepped gable containing a slate clock-face. Similar stepped gables are positioned on either side of the tower, which is capped by a truncated pyramid slate roof with a tall, octagonal timber domed lantern. To the left of the tower is a single bay with a small stepped gable and a 20th-century window; to the right are two stepped gables with vent loops and four 20th-century windows. The south side presents large stepped gables at each end, with two smaller stepped gables between, all featuring vent loops, and two original mullioned windows on the left. A single ridge stack is present. The west side is characterised by three stepped gables with vent loops. In the northwest angle is a two-storey range with a parapet, featuring three arched ground floor windows and two upper windows, fitted with 20th-century plastic glazing. Recessed within the angle to the north is an octagonal turret with slate angle piers, metal louvres and a slate ogee dome. The north front, facing the river, incorporates two small stepped gables with vent loops, three sets of two vent loops to the main wall, and a larger stepped gable at the left end.
The courtyard itself features 20th-century windows inserted throughout. The east rear of the entrance tower mirrors the front elevation. The south range includes a 20th-century door and windows, full-height ledged doors, a door with an overlight flanked by a paired casement window, and another door at the right end, topped by a stone dormer gable with a timber cross-window. The north range is punctuated by four full-height carriage entries with ledged double doors, a 20th-century window, and a door to the right. The northwest angle range has a parapet and a three-window range of plastic windows imitating 9-pane upper sashes and 12-pane lower. An octagonal turret is positioned to the right. The west range incorporates a 20th-century door and window in a former broad opening, a vent loop, double ledged doors, and a door with an overlight. One ridge chimney is present.
In front of the east front are two substantial corniced gate piers, each topped with a ball finial.
