Description
Capel Llwynadda is a Calvinistic Methodist Chapel built in 1829 and remodelled in 1878. The building is finished in stucco and features a hipped slate roof. The façade includes two long arched windows at the center, adorned with stucco architraves, keystones, and 'Florentine' tracery consisting of two lights and a roundel. Flanking these are two long square-headed gallery lights with similar surrounds and a central timber mullion, with arched heads on the top panes. There are also two projecting porches with coped shouldered roofs, each containing double panelled doors and crescent overlights featuring roundels. Above the central entrance is a rectangular plaque with raised stucco letters reading 'Llwynadda 1829'. All the external details were added during the 1878 remodelling.
The south end wall is slate-hung and has a long window, while the rear is half slate-hung with two long windows. The north end is constructed from rubble stone and includes one long window. The windows feature cut-stone voussoirs and 1878 glazing. An adjoining vestry has a reused datestone from 1791.
Inside, the chapel has a flat ceiling divided into a main oval panel and spandrel panels, with a large central rose and four smaller roses. The interior fittings are made of pitch pine, featuring a three-sided gallery with curved corners supported by cast-iron columns with Gothic capitals. The chapel has open pews and a pulpit with a panelled front and a tall corniced panelled back. The cornice above the gallery columns displays a zig-zag motif, while the gallery front is simply panelled in squares and rectangles. The pulpit back features square panels with a diagonal cross motif, and the pulpit itself has a three-sided front panelled with diagonal crosses on a darker ground, along with central roundels. Curving open baluster stairs are located on each side of the pulpit.
