Description

Pantyddwyriw is a small farmhouse and byre constructed from rubble stone, with remnants of limewash and a slate roof. It features a low stone chimney at the left end, which has dripstones and is almost dry stone. The front of the building has been altered in the 19th century, with two large windows and a central door that have flat stone lintels, likely enlarged from smaller original openings. The windows have 20th-century single pane glazing, and the central door is a plank door brought in from elsewhere. Above the right window, there is a tiny loft light that has been boarded over. The range continues seamlessly to the right, where the former byre is located, featuring a door with a timber lintel and a window.

The interior is currently disused, with broken slate flags on the floor. A very large whitewashed chimney with a timber lintel rises up to the roof on the left end. To the right, there is an unheated narrow room that is separated by a plain board partition, which supports the thin joists of the loft floor. It is believed that the building was once lofted throughout, as there are marks of joists and a blocked window to the right of the fireplace. The roof was renewed in the late 19th to early 20th century, featuring bolted collar trusses, pine squared purlins, and thin rafters.
