Description
The Iron footbridge over the Afon Mynach is a pedestrian bridge featuring a high arched design made of riveted iron. It consists of two parallel thin bows that support the renewed steps and decking, with two additional bows forming the handrails. These are linked and braced by thin uprights that have diagonally-crossed bars between them, with every second upright secured by a raking support that projects out from under the decking. A thin metal rod at mid-height connects the crossings of the diagonals. At each end of the bridge, there are solid sheet metal panels, one of which displays a maker's plaque reading 'Aberystwith Foundry 1867 Thos Stooke Engineer'.
