Description
Melyn Synod, also known as Synod Mill, is a water mill constructed from rubble stone with some brick elements, topped with a slate eaves roof and featuring a stack at the left end. The building stands two storeys high and has a three-window arrangement of small-paned casement pairs with cambered brick heads, where the bricks are laid in header courses. The windows have slate sills. On the ground floor, there is a French window on the left and a single casement on the right. The mill also includes three 20th-century eaves dormers.
The west end wall features a two-window range of similar windows to those on the main floors, along with one casement pair for the loft. The east end wall showcases a large 16-foot iron water wheel, originally designed as overshot, which was made by Bridgend Foundry in Cardigan. There is also a casement pair for the loft on this side. At the rear, the ground level aligns with the first floor equivalent, which includes a window, a French window, and a 20th-century conservatory.
