Description
Penrallt Uchaf is an early 18th century or earlier farmhouse with an attached barn. The farmhouse is constructed from whitewashed rubble stone and features asbestos roofs and red brick end stacks, with the larger stack located to the left. It is one-and-a-half storeys tall and has three large 20th century eaves-breaking windows. On the ground floor, there are two four-light casement windows, a door, and a small 12-pane sash window. At the northeast corner, there is a gabled projection that includes a boarded window and door beneath a rough drip course. A datestone above reads 'DI 1705', and there is one side window. The farmhouse also has a southwest rear wing that includes a brick end stack. Inside, the house features heavy beams and a fireplace lintel in the kitchen at the east end.
The attached barn is located downhill to the east and has a slate roof. It features a camber-arched entry with stone voussoirs and double doors, positioned at an angle to the house projection. There is one loop window to the left. The barn has a four-bay roof with triple purlins and pegged collar trusses. The end wall contains three stepped loops and six tiers of paired dove-holes with slate shelves in the gable. Attached at the rear angle of the barn is a stable with an asbestos roof, which has a central door and a window on each side; the left window features stone voussoirs, while the door and the other window have timber lintels.
