Description
This is an early 19th-century milestone located on the A487, which was part of the turnpike road from Aberaeron to Aberystwyth. The turnpike trust was established in 1770. The milestone is made of whitewashed stone and features a curved head. It is inscribed with the words "ABERYSTWYTH 13 miles," with the letters of Aberystwyth following the curve of the head. This milestone is included for its special interest as a relic of early transport history.
