Description
Ty Capel at Capel Gwynfil is a Grade II listed building consisting of two ranges aligned in a row. The main building, Ty Capel, located on the right, is constructed of coursed rubble stone and features a slate roof with paired brackets at the eaves. It has yellow brick stacks that date from around 1900. This two-storey structure has a three-window layout with 12-pane hornless sash windows, each with single slab lintels and stone sills. In the center, there are two doors accessed by four slate steps, both under a very long stone lintel. The doors have lattice glazing bars over the lights, with the left door featuring six flush panels and the right door having four fielded panels.
To the left, there is a longer range added in 1902, which maintains the same roof height. This section is also made of rubble stone but includes yellow brick dressings and a slate roof. It has four long, cambered-headed windows on the first floor, each surrounded by yellow brick. These windows are paired casements with 8-pane top-lights. The ground floor does not align with the upper openings and features a broad coach entry to the left, followed by a door, another door, and a window, with the final door and window again. The ground floor openings also have yellow brick surrounds with cambered heads and small casement-pair windows. There are framed ledged doors, and outside steps at the east end lead up to a loft door.
