Description

Ffos is a house constructed from colour-washed rubble stone, topped with a slate roof featuring rendered end stacks, the left stack being larger. It is two storeys high with an attic. The long front façade has three widely spaced twelve-pane sash windows on the upper floor, each with brick cambered heads and slate sills. The ground floor mirrors this with six similar openings, including three sash windows aligned with those above, plus an additional sash window to the right of the first bay and another to the right of the last bay. There is a plain board door in a wider opening to the right of the centre bay, which has a very narrow overlight.

To the left, there is a 20th-century blockwork lean-to garage. The right end wall features a triple mullion window in the attic with three tiny sashes and a heavy lintel. The long rear roof slope has a four-pane casement window to the right. The rear side includes a yellow brick stack on the roof slope to the right and a range of four large sash windows: a nine-pane window on the ground floor to the left, a doorway with a board door, a nine-pane sash with a four-pane casement above it under the eaves, and a four-pane sash window to the right.

Inside, the front door opens into a boarded lobby with four-panelled doors leading to the former kitchen, a passage to the rear kitchen, a stairwell, and a parlour. The passage is flagged and has two low steps leading down to the rear door, with a pantry to the right in an outshut and a rear kitchen featuring two oak beams to the left. There is a dogleg stair with thick stick balusters and ball finials. The upstairs rooms are divided by board partitions, and the rear room, located under the outshut, shows evidence of another staircase rising from the pantry.
