Description
Evancoyd, including the attached north wing, is an 18th-century building designed in an H-plan with service ranges to the north. It stands two storeys high with roughcast front elevations and exposed coursed rubble at the rear, topped with hipped slate roofs and boxed eaves. The building features rendered brick stacks. The entrance front has three bays with 12-pane sash windows and a wide pedimented central doorcase, which contains a modern panelled door with a glazed surround.
On the garden elevation, there is a modern infilled centre section that replaces the original verandah. The wing gable ends have 3-light sash windows on the first floor, and on the ground floor, there are French windows flanked by margin lights. The rear elevations display various sash windows under flat voussoir lintels, while the service ranges have sash windows beneath brick cambered lintels.
At the rear, a small L-plan range extends into the hillside, connecting to a later coachhouse in the service yard to the northwest.
Inside, there are raised and fielded 6-panel doors with fluted surrounds featuring Tudor Rose roundels. The hall archways have impost mouldings. The staircase has a rebuilt modern lantern overhead, with a scroll newel, a curtail step, an open string with template ends, and a ramped handrail. The balustrade features an alternating arrangement of four squared balusters with a wrought-iron panel that incorporates a Tudor Rose motif.
