Description
Cefn Garthmyl Farmhouse is likely a small timber-framed farmhouse from the late 17th century. The main elevations are rendered, while one gable end shows the exposed framing. It has a slate roof and features square panelled framing with a collar-strut roof. The house is one and a half storeys tall and follows a two-unit baffle entry plan with a central stack. A gabled porch, which is probably a 19th-century addition, is flanked by three-light casement windows, and there are two-light casements in framed gabled dormers that are slightly offset in the roof. The continuous outshut at the rear may be partially original and contains the staircase located behind the stack. The rear wing, made of painted brick, is likely from the mid-19th century. Inside, the principal room has a bressumer over a recessed fireplace, paired chamfered spine beams, and heavy joists in the ceiling.
