Description
Cwm Farmhouse is a building from the late 17th century, likely incorporating some earlier elements, with 19th-century changes to the windows. It features a timber frame with stone gables, cement-washed brick noggings, and a slate roof. Originally, the house consisted of two bays but was extended to the east by an additional bay and a contemporary timber-framed rear wing that has an exposed gable, with the side walls replaced in stone. The structure is one storey and attic but was later raised to two storeys.
The framing on the southeast front was probably renewed in the late 17th century, consisting of four panels high raised by another panel, with half-panels at the ends likely indicating the rebuilding of the gables in stone. There is a large external stack on the east gable and a later brick stack at the west end. The farmhouse has a rustic gabled porch, three-light transomed timber windows, and two 19th-century dormers. The rear wing is three panels high, raised to four, and features diagonal bracing in the gable.
Inside, the rear service room contains a small fireplace on the east wall and longitudinal chamfered beams with cut stops. The main room on the east side has a large fireplace with a lintel.
