Description

This mile post, dating from around 1820, was created for the Montgomeryshire Turnpike Trust. Made of cast iron, it has a triangular shape with a sloping top that rises to a rounded back plate. The southeast face features raised cast lettering that reads "LLANFYLLIN 5 - M," while the northwest face displays "WELSHPOOL 7 - M." The back plate is inscribed with "LAKE VYRNWY / / 16 - M."
