Description
5 Castle Street is a small house dating from the 18th century. It is two storeys high and features a two-window range with a lobby entry next to a single gable end stack. The exterior is finished in roughcast render, likely over a timber frame, and includes weatherboarding, which is typical of other timber-framed buildings in the town. The house has a slate roof with a pronounced eaves overhang, a brick gable end stack, and a wide gable at the rear.
The main façade has a doorway on the left, which is a boarded door with a simple hood above it, and there are two windows on each floor. These windows are small paned iron-framed casements. The rear of the house is obscured by later lean-to additions. There is a cobbled yard at both the front and rear of the property.
Although not inspected, it is reported that the interior consists of a single heated living room with a chimney stair and two small service rooms.
