Description
This building is a 16th-century timber-framed corner shop with a flat above. It features a prominent two-storey and attic gable end facing High Street, with a cross wing at the rear and some later alterations. The roof is covered with slate, and there are bargeboards and a large brick stack at the rear. The exterior is finished in whitewashed roughcast, showcasing dragon-beamed jetty construction supported by timber over the shop front.
On the first floor, there are two double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. The ground floor has a door and a small projecting shop front to the right, along with a sash window and a splayed shop front to the left. The elevation on Green End has two parts, with a projecting bay on the left that features a jettied gable supported by curved brackets above the first floor. It includes two three-light timber casements and a doorway with panelled reveals and a boarded door, accessed by three steps.
There is a lower timber-clad extension with a bargeboarded dormer on the left. Inside, the building is said to retain a fine double ceiling with roll-moulded beams and joists.
