Description
Bwlch Mawr Farm features an L-shaped multi-purpose farm range, which includes a cow house on the west side and a barn and stable on the north side. The structure is built of rubble stone and topped with a slate roof. Openings throughout the building are set under flat arches with hammer-dressed voussoirs.
The cow house contains seven doorways, two of which have been infilled, while two others have metal-framed windows. There is one doorway with a metal door and two with split boarded doors at the right end. Additionally, there are two loft openings fitted with metal-framed windows, and ventilation strips are located between the three left-hand doorways.
The barn features full-height sliding metal doors, which are flanked by three tiers of ventilation strips. A stable doorway is located at the left (west) end, and the gable end has four tiers of ventilation strips along with a triangular breather in the gable. The rear of the barn includes full-height boarded doors and three tiers of ventilation strips.
The cow house also has four manure-pitching holes in its rear wall, each equipped with wooden shutters. The roofs of the structure are supported by king-post trusses with diagonal struts. A modern shed is situated behind the cow house.
