Description
Talwrn is a one-and-a-half-storey house that includes an attached former cart bay at the upper end and a lower byre at the lower end. It is constructed of rubble stone, featuring a proprietary slate roof for the house and a corrugated metal roof for the byre. The house has a 17th-century square stone stack on the left side and a brick stack on the right. It has two windows, which are sash windows set under segmental stone heads on the lower storey. Above these, there are half dormers with fret-cut barge boards. The doorway is located on the left side and has glazed panels beneath a segmental head. Above the doorway is a dated tablet that notes the rebuilding of the house in 1864. At the back, there is a gabled rear wing with a lean-to on its uphill side.
The byre features two stone segmental-headed doorways to the left of a wagon bay with a timber lintel. There is a loft opening beneath the wall plate, and to the left of this is a single vent strip. The bay at the upper end has a full-height opening that has been infilled with blockwork.
Although not inspected, it is reported that the house retains the impression left by the removal of a cruck truss against the lower gable end.
