Description
The Farm Range (B) at Whitton Court is a 19th-century outbuilding located to the southwest of a courtyard that is immediately north of Whitton Court. This structure is part of a planned range that includes a fold yard. It features a two-storey stalled cowhouse with a rear feeding passage and a feed store in the end bay. The building is constructed from coursed rubble with brick dressings and has a partially weatherboarded loft. It retains original louvered windows, shuttered pitching openings, slit ventilators at the feed store end, and small decorative cast-iron ventilation grilles in the cowhouses. Inside, there are brick mangers, plank stalling, and king-post roof trusses.
Attached to the northwest is a single-storey cowhouse with a rear feeding passage. This section, also made of coursed rubble, has been converted into an open-fronted cattle shed supported by iron columns and features king-post roof trusses. The Farm Range (B) has group value as part of an exceptional farm grouping.
