Description
Traethllawn is a house built on land that belonged to the Powis Estate sometime between 1850 and 1854. The structure features coursed and squared local granite rubble with tooled dressings, including quoins at the corners and around the windows. It has a slate roof that overhangs deeply, supported by modillion eaves brackets, and there are paired stacks in each gable topped with moulded caps.
The house is two storeys high and has a three-window range that is symmetrically planned, with a central entrance set in a slightly advanced pedimented gable. It has a double pile plan and a short rear wing that is lower in height. The entrance consists of a paired partly glazed door with an overlight, framed by a stone architrave with a cornice and blocking course. The windows throughout the house, including those on the north gable return, are sashes featuring marginal glazing of an unusual design.
Traethllawn is a distinctive mid-19th century building that retains much of its original character.
