Description
Ty Mawr Farmhouse is a large farmhouse consisting of two units, with the smaller unit featuring a steeper roof pitch that faces the lane. The building is constructed of limewashed stone rubble and has a Welsh slate roof, along with end and ridge stacks. It has two storeys and an attic. The garden-facing side has two windows in the larger unit on the left and one in the smaller unit on the right; three of these windows are 4/4 pane sashes, with two having segmentally arched tops. The gable end facing the road is battered and includes a blocked square-headed window that was formerly mullioned, located at the staircase, with a small chamfered attic light above it and a nine-pane bedroom window.
On the rear elevation, there is a lean-to porch on the left featuring a round arched doorway, with three stone steps leading up to the interior, which has stone benches, a boarded door, a small pantry window to the right, and a blocked narrow light to the left; a mounting block is also present on the left. To the right, there is a two-storey lean-to rear wing with a catslide roof and a wide, low kitchen stack that shows weathercoursing; there are external steps at the rear leading to the first floor, with some small pane fixed glazing and other windows having been replaced.
The farmyard located on the other side of the lane is large and includes a range of farm buildings, some of which are derelict. The interior has not been seen but is described by the owner as retaining a two-storey stone and oak staircase by the chimney, with timber beams boxed in and remodelled fireplaces.
