Description
The barn to the east of Trewern House is a Grade II listed timber-framed structure, featuring two and three panels high. Originally, the lower panel had board infill while the upper panels were woven, but it has since been weatherboarded and has a slated roof. The barn consists of seven bays and was originally lofted throughout. At the western end, there is an attached building made up of three stone walls.
The main posts of the barn are supported by angle braces connecting to the tie beams, and the structure features collar beam trusses with struts to the principal rafters, along with ties and braces to the main posts. Some of the tie beams are chamfered and stopped.
There is a small door entrance in the third bay from the east, with a corresponding door on the opposite side that creates a cross passage between the closed trusses. Additionally, there is a long tension brace at the eastern end where it meets the stone building.
