Description
Maesfron is a two-storey building with pebbledashed elevations and a low hipped slate roof, featuring lead capping over the boxed eaves. The west front has three bays, with a narrow, slightly recessed central bay that contains the entrance. This entrance features later double hardwood part-glazed doors set within the original fluted Doric doorcase and cornice, topped by a three-paned fanlight. The building has twelve-paned sash windows.
On the south front, there are two window bays, with the windows extending down to near ground level, enclosed within a wrought iron trelliswork verandah supported by four iron posts. This verandah terminates at the eastern end with a two-storey canted bay. The eastern elevation features a sunken area defined by javelin-headed railings with a key pattern, which was formerly listed separately.
At the rear, there are detached service buildings, both two-storey and single-storey, surrounding a cobbled service yard that once housed the detached kitchens.
Inside, the entrance leads to a cross hall that includes a wide staircase with a wreathed handrail that terminates in a spiral on the newel. The interior also features panelled doors and door reveals.
