Description
The barn west of Old Hall Farmhouse is a Grade II listed building located on Little Horkesley School Road. This seven-bay barn, originally built in the early 14th century, has undergone significant rebuilding. It features a timber frame with aisles on both sides, which were later raised to a two-storey height. The main posts are jowled, with passing shores in the aisles and reversed assembly at the original eaves. The structure includes well-curved bracing to the arcade plates and tie-beams, with a roof supported by collars, purlins, and curved in-pitch bracing. A long splayed scarf, dating from around 1350, is preserved in one aisle, along with a spur-tie and reversed assembly. The barn also contains a midstrey, which is centrally located on the north side and has been modernised.
