Description
Kings Farmhouse is a Grade II* listed building located on Kings Road in Little Horkesley. This house dates back to the 15th century or earlier and features a T-plan layout due to a brick extension added to the north, which has been painted. The structure is timber-framed and plastered, consisting of at least five bays. It has a red brick central chimney stack that is truncated and supports six octagonal shafts with bell-feet.
The roof is ridged and gabled, covered with peg tiles, and has eaves with a long jetty on the south elevation. The line of the jetty is interrupted at the center by a late fascia on the east side and exposed sill on joists on the west side. The first storey has five windows, with two casements on the left and three casements on the right, along with a tripartite window that retains its original 'ears'. The east half of the first storey has knees under the jetty, while the west side only shows the ends of the joists, which indicates an original chimney bay.
On the ground storey, the windows are a mix, including a large Venetian tripartite window on both sides of the central door, which consists of six panels and is partly original. The building is truncated on the west side, where two service doors are visible on that wall, revealing part of the exposed frame.
