Description

LITTLE HORKESLEY KINGS ROAD 1. 5214 Kings Farmhouse TL 93 SE 3/106 7.4.65 II* 2. C15 or earlier house. Now on a T-plan due to brick, painted, extension on north. Timber-framed and plastered and of at least 5 bays with red brick truncated central chimney stack mounting 6 octagonal shafts with bell-feet. Roof ridged and gabled peg-tiled with eaves, long jetty on south elevation. Line of jetty broken at centre with late fascia to east and exposed sill on joists to west. First storey has a range of 5 windows 2 casements left, and 3 casements right, then a tripartite window of which the original 'ears' remain. East half has knees under the jetty and the west has only joists' ends, the whole denting an original chimney bay. Ground storey windows mixed but including one large Venetian tripartite window left and right of central door which is of 6 panels and partly original. The whole truncated at west and because 2 service doors show on that wall, in a partly exposed frame.
