Description
Dolforgan sawmill is a two-storey brick building with a slate roof, featuring openwork crested ridges and heavily carved timber bargeboards. The brickwork is painted white and decorated with a black-painted design that mimics elaborate timber framing. The building has three bays, with the center bay being narrower and containing the former entrance, which is recessed under a segmental painted brick arch. The central bay is gabled to the east and features a clock with gilded figures and the date 1900. The windows are made of 20th-century timber and plastic. At the center of the roof, there is an open timber bellcote supported on posts that stand on the ridges, complete with spike finials and retaining its bell. Attached to the north gable end is a lower outbuilding that has similar painted walls and a slate roof, along with a steeply pointed bellcote set at an angle to the ridge. The interior was not accessible during the inspection in January 1996.
