Description

Originally 2 single unit cottages with end stacks. 2 storey, 2-window range, with doors next to each other in the centre of the range. Lean-to and rear range, the latter with an end stack. Masonry rubble with large quoins, white washed, under a slate roof with red brick chimneys. 12-pane iron casement windows with no lintels or sills, except for the S ground floor window which is a 24-pane shop window. Planked doors in simple wooden doorcases. No openings to N and S gables. Rear has one cast iron 4-pane window above the level of the red brick lean-to which contains an opening with stable doors, and two 4-pane windows. The right-angled rear range at the N end is of random masonry under a tile roof, 1 storey high with a brick end stack.

The interior retains its original plan form and has a substantial central spine beam running N to S through the principal rooms with very narrow subsidiary joists. The N fireplace has a lintel of moderate proportions which is probably original.
