Description
Bridge View is a building that was originally two single-unit cottages with end stacks, dating back to an unspecified period. It is two stories high and has a two-window range, featuring doors positioned next to each other in the center. The building includes a lean-to and a rear range, the latter having an end stack. The exterior is constructed of masonry rubble with large quoins, which is whitewashed, and it is topped with a slate roof and red brick chimneys. The windows are 12-pane iron casements without lintels or sills, except for the south ground floor window, which is a 24-pane shop window. The doors are planked and set in simple wooden doorcases. There are no openings on the north and south gables. The rear side has one cast iron 4-pane window located above the level of the red brick lean-to, which features an opening with stable doors, along with two additional 4-pane windows. The right-angled rear range at the north end is built of random masonry under a tile roof, standing one story high with a brick end stack.
Inside, the building retains its original layout, featuring a substantial central spine beam that runs north to south through the main rooms, supported by very narrow subsidiary joists. The north fireplace has a lintel of moderate size, which is likely original.
